The Government‘s CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) is about reducing CO2 emissions, one of the main causes of climate change. CERT came into effect in April 2011 to introduce 100% grant funding availability to any member of a household who is in receipt of any one of the of these benefits:
Income Support; Housing Benefit; Council Tax Benefit (not single occupancy reduction); Disablement Pension (must also be in receipt of Mobility Supplement or Constant Attendance Allowance); Income-based Job Seekers Allowance; War Disablement Pension (must also be in receipt of Mobility Supplement or Constant Attendance Allowance); Attendance Allowance; Child Tax Credit (and with an annual income of less than £16,000); Working Tax Credit (and with an annual income of less than £16,000); Disability Living Allowance; Pension Credit; Income Related Employment and Support Allowance; Disabled Persons Tax Credit OR be aged 70 years or over.
The grant is to ensure that the amount of CO2 emissions from homes is reduced by up to 50% through the installation of cavity wall and loft insulation. Grant are available to all home owners or privately rented properties.
