Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales significantly increases investment to £24.5m to support the most vulnerable in society.
The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales has published its annual report showing an increased investment of £24.5 million in 2010 (£20.6m in 2009) to support the most vulnerable in society. One of the UK's leading grant makers, the independently run Foundation supports charities that help disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in the community. Over the last three years, this level of investment has not only supported over 2,500 jobs and 12,300 volunteering opportunities (often the first step towards employment) but has also ensured nearly 3,000 charities have been able to provide much needed local and community services.
The impact of this investment has been to reduce isolation and increase social interaction (both in rural and urban settings); improve or provide access to support/advice services where they exist and helped to improve the basic skills of literacy and numeracy for many thousands of vulnerable people. The investment from the Foundation has also facilitated success in obtaining funding from other sources for over 500 charities, helping them remain resilient and sustainable at a time of funding cutbacks.
