Each of these groups is vetted by HIWCF before appearing on Localgiving.com. Public donations will give new hope and support to groups who often find it difficult to obtain funding.

HIWCF also manages the distribution of funds to the local group, to ensure that donations are appropriately spent by trustworthy charitable organisations. So the public can feel confident about the donations they make. All Community Foundations that work with Localgiving.com follow quality standards endorsed by the Charity Commission .Both Localgiving.com’s shareholders are registered UK charities who are committed to promoting local communities and helping them thrive by providing a steady stream of support and recognition.

Localgiving.com's fee covers the maintenance of the system, processing of payments, and customer care. Any surpluses made by Localgiving.com are required to be given back to the two shareholders, both registered charities whose objectives are to encourage local philanthropy.

There is a small cost involved, the first three months are free then there is a charge of £60 for the rest of the year. Groups can send their own supporters to sponsor them online and can receive gift aid through the site even if they are not registered to receive gift aid.
